ARTIST STATEMENT
In 2013, the story of American artist Georgia O'Keeffe inspired me to create a series of paintings in her honor, which were exhibited at ICANA (Argentine - American Cultural Institute) in Buenos Aires.
My creative impulse further expanded in 2016 when I moved from Buenos Aires to Pinamar, a seaside town on Argentina's Atlantic coast.
Living near the beach, in daily contact with the forest, changed the direction of my artistic vision and aesthetic language.
A higher ecological and environmental awareness is prompting me now to only use natural materials in my art –bark, log, and wood pieces that I randomly find in nature. I transfer family photos, or photos of Pinamar’s people, generally from the 20th century, onto those pieces.
I believe my work has a nostalgic feel, bringing about an intimate dialogue with family stories –letting secrets, childhood games and milestone moments to emerge.
